My Journey
After my head injury in July of 2018, I gained 20 pounds from not being active and being depressed. The doctors said that I needed to take it easy for the next 90 days. No stress. No physical activity or exercise. No arguing with CP and telling him what to do. I did it anyways but he just ignored me.
The trauma of my fall not only left a physical scar on my forehead but it left an emotional scar as well. I found myself in a daily emotional state of constant fear for me, the kids and CP.
I didn’t want to leave the house. I wanted to stay safe at home, eat (food was always a comfort for me in the past) and keep my family close. I have a confession to make. As most of you know I’m a holistic health practitioner. I know that eating clean and green is the way to stay healthy and I stopped eating clean.
Mistake #1. Yup. There it is. The 90 days turned into 9 months of depression and self-sabotage, escaping the pain with food. The hole I sunk into was so deep and dark that I couldn’t climb out. Nothing I tried worked or would get me out of the funk I was in. I guess if I’m being honest I was upset with the Lord and felt betrayed by Him so I was trying to fix myself and not wanting to ask HIM for anything. That was until I found myself at the end of my rope asking the Lord to intervene and heal me from this cycle I was in. He led me to do some inner healing around soul trauma and also wanted me to fast. FAST!
WHAT????
That was when I discovered intermittent fasting.
I have always been a research-a-holic (part of being a control freak). I dug into intermittent fasting to find out everything I could.
I had just suffered a head trauma, severe concussion and two days in a coma and needed my brain to heal. I needed answers and was not going to sit around just hoping one day things would get better. Besides Intermittent Fasting, my research led me to the benefits of hyperbaric oxygen chambers with head injuries like mine. I happened to have a doctor friend about an hour away from our home that had an oxygen chamber and the use of the chamber made a huge difference for me on my healing journey. Next, I knew I needed to address my emotional eating patterns.

After extensive research on fasting and how it can help your body and brain to heal plus reverse aging and a number of other amazing benefits, I was willing to give it a try. It was pretty simple. I began by having an eating window and a fasting window each day. During my eating window I simply focused on eating plant based. I wanted to keep it easy so if it worked for me, I knew that others could do it it too. In my first 4 weeks I dropped 10 pounds without dieting and also enjoying a feast day once per week. I don’t count macros or calories and I still go out with friends to eat, have fun and keep life simple. I only eat during my 8-hour window. After my first two weeks, I saw my body make great gains in healing itself and I no longer lived life from indoors. I am not only back to where I was… I am better than where I was before my accident.
Intermittent fasting isn’t difficult to add to your life and make a lifestyle of it. It really is easy. You don’t eat less. You just eat less often! The time frame of when you eat will make a huge difference and produce big results, feeling better, looking better, sleeping better, reduce inflammation, provide weight loss and it will also help to balance hormones and increase muscle mass.
If it worked for me, it can work for you too! So, let me explain a bit about “IF”.
What Is Intermittent Fasting?
Intermittent Fasting can be defined as an eating window where you cycle between periods of eating and periods of not eating (AKA fasting). It’s really that easy.
Now… There are many different Intermittent Fasting protocols out there, however, the basics are very much the same. You have a period of eating, followed by a period of fasting, and repeat. A popular example that you may already be familiar with, is fasting for 16 hours and then having an 8 hour “eating window” where you eat all of your meals for the day.
Now…The main issue I have with the majority of Intermittent Fasting Protocols out there is that they are far too restrictive. And if you are anything like me, strict or extreme diets just don’t work for me and most of my client. This is why I created a program that is much more flexible, enjoyable and very simple to achieve your personal goals.
So How Does Intermittent Fasting Work?
Now that you have a general understanding of what Intermitted Fasting is, let’s cover exactly how it works.
One of the main reasons Intermittent Fasting is such a great way to heal the body and lose those unwanted pounds is because your body responds differently when you are in a “fasted” state compared to when you are in a “feasted” state.
When you eat, your body will spend the next few hours breaking down that food and use it as energy. And as you already know, your body needs this energy in order to function properly.
Now, during the fasted state…
Your body doesn’t have that readily available energy (i.e. the calories from the foods you just ate), so it looks for something else to use as energy. And your body is then more likely to use fat as energy because it’s the most readily available.
Even better, Intermittent Fasting can help teach your body to use the food you consume more efficiently. In short, you are keeping your body at optimal fat burning levels.

Now that we covered the “what” and “how” of Intermittent Fasting, let’s get down to the real question of WHY you should be practicing this in your life so you have optimal health even if you don’t need to lose weight.

What is the IF for Optimal Aging (IFFOA) and why does it work so fast?
The IFFOA is a plan I designed to help me heal my body and lose weight in less time using the power of Intermittent Fasting. However, after realizing that the majority of Intermittent Fasting plans were way to strict, I decided to create my own variation.
By actually doing Intermittent fasting not only did I see amazing results of feeling more energized, clarity of mind, eliminated depression and fast weight loss… It was really enjoyable and almost felt effortless. What if I have a lot of weight to lose?

As always, I recommend talking with your doctor to see if you have any medical conditions that would prevent you from starting the program.
Is the program for everyone?
Although these techniques can work for everyone… If you are pregnant, are hypoglycemic, are diabetic or pre-diabetic or have an eating disorder, I always recommend having a consultation with your doctor first to get their approval.
Does the program work just as good for women as it does men?
The short answer is yes. The main difference for men and women in this program is the fasting duration. Most women need to add in certain foods during their monthly menstrual cycle. In terms of reaching your personal goals, both women and men can see fantastic results using this system!
