3 SUPERFOODS TO FIGHT ANXIETY & BOOST MOOD
I’m so grateful that today I no longer suffer with anxiety. I know that detoxing my body 7 years ago and eating clean today has a lot to do with balancing out my central nervous system.
At the time when I was struggling with anxiety I had very high levels of heavy metals. This was a result of my dentist improperly drilling out my amalgam fillings and of course, there were other factors as well.
Learning from my own personal experience, here are the top three mood-enhancing superfoods that I encourage my clients to try.
Ashwagandha is a small, bush-like plant native to the dry regions of India, northern Africa, and the Middle East. It’s an adaptogenic herb, just like maca but with slightly different nutritional value and mechanism of action.
Ashwagandha, like most other superfoods on this list, contains a lots of minerals such as calcium, magnesium, copper, zinc, cobalt, iron, and flavonoids. This adaptogen is known to reduce stress without making you tired or drowsy and actually gives you a nice boost of energy and sense of well-being.
A study found that after 60 days of consuming 300mg of ashwagandha, subjects with chronic stress and anxiety noticed a significant reduction in stress and the cortisol (stress hormone) levels in the bloodstream were substantially reduced. This was one of the herbs I used to also reverse my adrenal fatigue.
2. MACA POWDER
Maca is a nutritionally dense Peruvian root, historically known as an adaptogenic herb that is used to balance hormones, support mood, energy, stress, stamina, and libido. For reference, an adaptogen is a natural substance considered to help the body adapt to stress and to exert a normalizing effect upon bodily processes.
Maca contains high levels of calcium, iodine, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, and potassium. According to one study, maca, “reduces psychological symptoms, including anxiety and depression” and has positive effects on energy, stamina, and mood.
Scientists are still not entirely sure how this adaptogenic herb works on a cellular level, but we do know this superfood helps to stabilize blood sugar levels and support adrenal health, which are responsible for regulating mood and energy throughout the day.
I like adding maca to my smoothies.
3. CHILL SPRAY
CHILL is a sublingual spray that will calm your nerves and calm your energy, in seconds. The active ingredient SunTheanine™ and GABA work together to promote relaxation, help stabilize mood and relieve daily stress without drowsiness due to the presence of the amino acid L-theanine.
Gamma-Amino Butyric acid (GABA) is an amino acid, which acts as a neurotransmitter in the central nervous system. It inhibits nerve transmission in the brain, calming nervous activity. It’s a natural solution for nervous and worrisome moods, with a sweet Watermelon flavor.
This is one of my favorites because I simply carry it in my purse and spray some under my tongue whenever I need it.
If you suffer with anxiety bring it to the Lord and surrender it to HIM. Ask him what would be the best path for you to take for your healing. He knows your body and HE knows what would you need. My healing also came through much surrender and allowing HIM to heal areas of my heart where I was wounded. He is our father and he wants us to rest in HIS arms knowing that HE will take care of us.
